Dodge SpecShare and ConstructConnect already alert you when a brand string hits a commercial plan room. Those products are real. They are not this. A public spec that names a trade name must usually say “or equal.” The manufacturer’s best public-sector hunt is not “find my name.” It is find the sentence that is my product.

Where we are named
Brand token in the spec, title block, or approved-manufacturers list. Closed BOD. Or-equal. Listed with no preference. You are legal, not always preferred.

Where competitors are named
Same grep, their aliases. The point is which engineering firm drifted. Dewberry used to write us; last four tanks they wrote Sherwin. A Monday call, not a market-share chart.

Described without listing us
NSF/ANSI 61. AWWA D102. Zinc-rich primer and mils. A Made-in-America nonavailability waiver. The clause matches the catalog and names nobody. Public work makes this bigger than hunt 1.
The list manufacturers will forward.
Rows are projects. Columns are prompts. Cells are cited, or they are unknown. That is the product. Do not invent a new noun.
Brand-in-PDF is late.
The earlier trigger is design started: a 5413 A/E award, or Engineer of Record / Prepared by on a planning document, 12–18 months before the spec book exists. Nobody else treats that award as the manufacturer’s alarm.
What we are not claiming.
Not a commercial plan room
SpecShare and ConstructConnect will have more architect-driven PDFs. Say it. We will lose on commercial plan-room volume.
Not a CSI taxonomy
Section numbers live in the text. We grep. We do not sell MasterFormat as a product.
Not a brand-in-notice feature
Notice HTML almost never has basis of design. The value is attachments and design awards. If the packet is not in the corpus, the cell is unknown, not guessed.
Not GovWin
Those buyers are not in this meeting. Honesty is the close: a filled cell with a citation beats a dashboard of implied spec share.

Is this SpecShare for municipal work?
No. SpecShare alerts when a brand string hits a commercial plan room. We sit on the public spine. The wedge is hunt 3: the clause that describes you and lists nobody. If they live on SpecShare for K–12 and healthcare, we are an add-on for the public-infrastructure book.
We're not a government contractor. Is this still for us?
Yes, if your product gets specified or pulled into public infrastructure. You do not win the prime. You win when the engineer picks a basis of design, or when the performance sentence is yours and names nobody.
What would make the list wrong?
A false BOD, a missed or-equal, or a missed unnamed fit. Cells are cited, or they are unknown — never guessed.
Do we rip out Dodge / ConstructConnect?
No. Do not pick a fight with SpecShare on commercial architect work. Sell the public unnamed-fit and the 5413 trigger they cannot get from a commercial plan room.
