Oroville Dam and Lake Oroville from the air, February 2017

Forecasts from your own data, not a spreadsheet.

Capveon predicts what is coming from your own history: which bids you will win, which quotes will close, which jobs will slip, and what backlog looks like next quarter.

Oroville Dam and Lake Oroville from the air, February 2017. California Department of Water Resources.

The forecast is a spreadsheet, assembled by hand, from numbers nobody fully trusts.

The pipeline is in the CRM at whatever probability the rep felt like. Backlog is in the ERP as of last month's close. Somebody merges them every month and the board meeting argues about the result. The history that would actually predict the outcome sits in those same systems, unused.

How it runs

A person on your team approves before anything is written to a system you run.

  1. Unify

Pipeline, bids, quotes, jobs, orders and outcomes across your systems, reconciled to one history.

  2. Learn

What actually preceded a win, a loss, a late job or a lost account in your own data. No industry averages.

  3. Predict

Win probability per bid, close probability per quote, slip risk per job, backlog and revenue by quarter.

  4. Explain

Each prediction with the factors behind it, so a person can agree or override.

  5. Report

The numbers, from the systems, on the schedule you want.

What goes in

  • CRM pipeline and history
  • Bids and outcomes from estimating
  • Jobs, orders and financials from the ERP
  • Project progress data

What comes out

  • Win and close probabilities with factors
  • Backlog and revenue forecast by quarter
  • Jobs and accounts at risk, ranked
  • Board and management reports from the systems

What it produces

Every field links to where it came from.

Forecast, next two quarters

From four systems, refreshed nightly.

Pipeline
$48M weighted by modelled probability, versus $61M rep-weighted
Bids at risk
Two large bids where you have lost to the same competitor five of six times
Backlog
$112M, 14 percent scheduled into a quarter where you have historically slipped
Jobs slipping
Three flagged from submittal and change-order patterns

Delivered to the leadership team on the first of the month, with the drivers behind each number.

Questions

How much history do you need?
Two or three years of bids, jobs or orders is usually enough to be useful. Less than that and Capveon tells you what it is confident about and what it is not.
Can we see why a prediction is what it is?
Yes. Every prediction shows the factors behind it and the past cases it resembles. Nothing is a black box, and a person can override any number.
Does this need the other workflows first?
It needs connected, reconciled data, which is what the other workflows produce as a side effect. Most customers start with a workflow that saves hours today and add forecasting once the systems are connected.
